Association of Book Publishers of British Columbia

 

The Association of Book Publishers of BC (ABPBC) is a provincial association of BC owned and controlled book publishing companies. The ABPBC works to support the long-term health and success of the Canadian-owned book industry in British Columbia.

 

Association of Canadian Publishers

The Association of Canadian Publishers (ACP) represents approximately 115 Canadian-owned and controlled book publishers from across the country. The membership is diverse and includes publishers from a variety of genres. Over 80% of Canadian-authored titles are published by the Canadian-owned sector. This means a strong Canadian-owned sector is vital to the development of new Canadian authors and writers

 

Association of Canadian University Press | Association des presses universitaires canadiennes

The Association of Canadian University Presses (ACUP) / Association des presses universitaires canadiennes (APUC) is the collective voice of French- and English-language scholarly publishing in Canada. ACUP/APUC members publish more than 600 titles annually, primarily by Canadian researchers and on Canadian subjects in the humanities and social sciences.

 

Association of English-language Publishers of Quebec

 

 

The Association of English-language Publishers of Quebec (Association des Éditeurs de langue anglaise du QuÉbec) is a not-for-profit organization that advances the publication, distribution, and promotion of English-language books from Quebec. We support our member publishers through professional development seminars, advocacy, and marketing initiatives.

 

Association of Manitoba Book Publishers

The Association of Manitoba Book Publishers was established in 1979 and incorporated in 1988. Throughout its existence, the AMBP has consistently provided effective support to our members and the larger literary community.

 

Association nationale des éditeurs de livres

L’Association nationale des éditeurs de livres (ANEL) regroupe près de 100 maisons d’édition de langue française au Québec et au Canada. Sa mission est de soutenir la croissance de l’industrie de l’édition et d’assurer le rayonnement du livre québécois et canadien français à l’échelle nationale et internationale. Les maisons d’édition membres de l’Association publient divers types d’ouvrages, du roman au manuel scolaire en passant par l’essai et le livre jeunesse. Ces maisons sont situées au Québec, en Ontario, au Manitoba et au Nouveau-Brunswick.

 

Atlantic Publishers Marketing Association

The Atlantic Publishers Marketing Association is an industry support organization representing book publishers located in Atlantic Canada. The publishers in Atlantic Canada believe a vigorous Atlantic-owned-and-controlled book publishing industry is essential to the economic, cultural, educational and social life of Atlantic Canada. The APMA works towards growing and maintaining a strong Canadian-owned book publishing industry in Atlantic Canada.

 

Book Publishers Association of Alberta

The Book Publishers Association of Alberta (BPAA) was founded in 1975 to support the development of a thriving provincial publishing industry, away from Canada’s traditional book publishing centres. Today one of the strongest communities of regional publishers in North America, the BPAA counts over 30 member companies, many of which are owned and operated in Alberta. 

 

Canadian Publishers' Council

The Canadian Publishers’ Council, as Canada’s main English language book publishing trade association, was founded in 1910 and represents the interests of publishing companies that publish books and other media for elementary and secondary schools, colleges and universities, professional and reference markets, the retail and library sectors. Our members employ more than 2800 Canadians and collectively account for nearly three-quarters of all domestic sales of English-language books. Members spend over $50 million with Canadian-based book manufacturers and pay more than $25 million in royalties to Canada’s writers.

 

Livres Canada Books

Livres Canada Books acts as an export catalyst for Canadian-owned publishers by helping them connect to readers around the world and by bringing Canadian-authored books to international attention. // Livres Canada Books agit à titre de catalyseur de l’exportation pour les éditeurs appartenant à des intérêts canadiens en les mettant en contact avec des lecteurs de partout au monde et en contribuant à la reconnaissance des auteurs canadiens sur la scène internationale.

 

Literary Press Group of Canada

The Literary Press Group of Canada (LPG) is a not-for-profit association of Canadian literary book publishers. With a current membership of sixty Canadian-owned and -operated publishing houses, the LPG's mandate is to support the growth of Canadian literary culture. Ontario Book Publishers Organization

The Ontario Book Publishers Organization (OBPO) is a trade association of 43 Ontario-based Canadian-owned book publishers. The chief activities of the OBPO are: to represent the needs, interests, concerns and issues of Ontario book publishers to government and arts organizations; to facilitate information sharing and educational opportunities to our membership about the provincial, national and international book publishing industries; and to facilitate group marketing projects (both domestic and international) at a reduced cost to our members.

 

Professional Association of Canadian Literary Agents

The Professional Association of Canadian Literary Agents (PACLA) functions around a single framework: PACLA will have authors' best interests in mind and advocate for them first and foremost because as agents and authors’ representatives that is our ultimate professional responsibility.

 

Québec Édition

Québec Édition soutient les activités d’exportation des éditeurs en organisant des stands collectifs dans environ dix foires et salons du livre à travers le monde. Québec Édition se consacre également au développement d’un réseau de contacts destinés à aider les professionnels de l’édition à faire connaître leur production sur les marchés internationaux en participant, entre autres, à des missions commerciales à l’étranger et en accueillant des partenaires de divers pays.

 

Regroupement des éditeurs franco-canadiens

Regroupement des éditeurs franco-canadiens (REFC) a été créé en 1989 dans le but de « créer une plateforme nationale permettant aux éditeurs francophones actifs à l’extérieur du Québec de faire front commun et de mener des actions concertées, tant sur le plan des politiques que sur celui de la promotion, de la distribution et du développement de marchés. »

 

SaskBooks

 

SaskBooks is Saskatchewan’s provincial creative industry association for book publishers. We don’t publish books, but are a member-based not-for-profit association whose members are book publishers operating in Saskatchewan. Our publishers are small and independent businesses. The creative economy in the publishing sector includes business models like academic and scholarly publishers, literary presses, hybrid presses, self-publishers, and niche publishers. SaskBooks provides programs and services to its publisher members, including but not limited to industry-specific facilitated learning opportunities, co-operative and joint marketing projects, and we act as a champion for the book publishing sector in the province.
