Devil’s Breath is a murder mystery taking place circa 1890. BC Provincial Police detective Tavish (Sandy)MacPherson is sent from New Westminster to investigate and solve the recent bizarre decapitation murders that have surfaced in Port Moody. There is something in the air. Something supernatural frightening the lumbermen and the Chinese community and Sandy is working hard on this his first case he is the lead detective on. He takes charge of the police station in Port Moody where two fine officers are stationed. Edwin Shuster, a dyed in the wool Scotsman somewhat rough around the edges but with a lot of smarts under his gruff exterior; and Russell Cuthbertson a young officer who is eager to learn everything he can from detective MacPherson. The story has its beginnings with Angus Colquhoon, a , hard-headed Scotsman who has left his family in Montreal to find his fortune in the Caribou of British Columbia during the “Gold Rush”. Angus stakes claims in Barkerville and becomes a rich man, but there are skeletons in his closet and those skeletons rattle into his last place of residence and his horrific death in Port Moody, BC


Ronald Reiniger, author

Ronald Reiniger retired from a successful 35-year business career. This freedom enabled his pursuit of a lifelong aspiration, to become a published novelist. His greatest accomplishment is raising three amazing children with his wife, Carol. They love traveling to new places to experience different cultures. Ronald also loves the simple pleasures of spending time with family and friends. He grew up in a small town in Saskatchewan and currently resides in Port Moody, BC.

Candice James is Poet Laureate Emerita of New Westminster BC and also an editor, writer, musician, and visual artist. She is the founder of the Royal City Literary Arts Society and the Fred Cogswell Award For Excellence in Poetry. She is a full member of the League of Canadan Poets and The Writers Union of Canada. She is also past president of the Federation of BC Writers and Royal City Literary Arts Society.
