Feue
by Ariane LessardA first novel that marks the arrival of a powerful feminist voice Feue is a dizzying spiral that unfurls around a broken family. There is the enigmatic Virginia, her mother who has possibly disappeared, her sister Laura and her dipsomaniac father, as well as village characters in the wings, busy with shady business dealings. In this multi-voice work of fiction, Ariane Lessard offers a first novel with a disconcerting narrative. Her powerful writing reveals the violence and fragility that lay in people’s hearts.
Hypnotized, readers bear witness to the shudderings of this isolated community, twisted by its own laws and desire for vengeance and liberty.
