Kiki lives with his tío and his abuela ever since his papá sailed away in search of a new life. After dreaming about his papá, he encounters a mysterious woman with long white hair on the beach that he goes to every day. The lady leaves beautiful stones for Kiki that give him newfound hope his papá will come back.

Enrique Pérez Díaz is one of Cuba’s most celebrated writers for young people. He is currently serving as director of the Observatorio Cubano del Libro. His work has been translated into more than fifteen languages. He lives in Havana, Cuba.

Yayo Yayo, illustrator

Yayo is an acclaimed artist and the award-winning illustrator of numerous children’s books. He has been nominated twice for the Governor General’s Award, and is a recipient of the Mr. Christie’s Book Award and the Charles Biddle Award for his outstanding contribution to the cultural life of Quebec. Originally from Colombia, Yayo lives in Montreal, Quebec.
