Mathieu Poulin’s first novel, Des explosions (On Explosions), is a pseudo-biography deconstructing the life and career of filmmaker Michael Bay, an esteemed intellectual who has tackled so many profound social and philosophical issues through his now-classic action films, from the discourse of decolonization in "Bad Boys" to the interface of astrophysics and metaphysics in "Armageddon". Deep thinking and car chases have never gone so well together.

Born in 1983, Mathieu Poulin is a professor of literature at Ahunstic college in Montreal. In addition to writing novels and short stories, he is a sports columnist (specialized in wrestling) on a sports website called Balle courbe. He also contributes to different sports and culture podcasts. Des explosions is his first novel.
